the music at the counter of the country cupboard is terrible.  listening to it for 7.5 hours made me die a little bit inside.  particularly distasteful were the songs where assorted brass instruments attempt to play every note of a scale as rapidly as possible with no discernible purpose other than to play every single note of a scale.  it's as if someone is vomiting in my ear.  i exaggerate not.  i'm becoming a huge fan of the food network.  no clue why, maybe i love food maybe i love watching things that i don't have to think about.  i especially like the shows where there are food making contests.  life goal: be a judge on one of these shows.  those of you reading this, it's time you start contributing to xanga again.  i'm doing my part, it's your turn now.

anyone out there?

does anyone use this thing anymore???? i guess i'll have to break the ice here.

Part 1  Life Update
I'm a college graduate.  I'm a waiter.  I'm an entrepreneur? Me and some friends from my martha's vineyard semester are banding together to make a record label.  we've got artists, they've got albums, we're getting a checking account and possibly a website.  some days i research what one must do to start a business/record label, some days i do nothing.  Being a waiter pays the bills, starting a record label feeds the dreams.  Someday i'll move somewhere sweet and continue this.

Part 2  Life Musings
- I hate the commercials for insurance that tell you how much you'll save.  Is it a month? over the course of your life? what is it compared to?
- I think my favorite lame customer comment is when someone asks for some form of alcohol on the rocks.  for some reason it never gets old.
- the movie Hot Rod is gonna be awesome
-does anyone want to play musical chairs in a parking lot with cars?
- can you tell i'm doing this while watching tv?
- the above song, keep the car running by arcade fire is incredible.  I think i could possibly live only by listening to this song.

welp that's all i've got

Epiphany

This morning as a screaming toddler sprinted across the slippery tile followed by her screaming mother while her demon-spawn brother hurled himself headfirst down the slide, I had an epiphany.  I hate the splash park at the west shore YMCA more than any other inanimate object I have ever encountered.  Every moment I guard in there is pure torture.  The only thing i hate more than that room is the plague of horrible parenting skills that seems to surround that place.  If I had some monetary unit for every time I heard a parent say just 5 more minutes over and over again, I would have a lot of monetary units. One more week and I'm done there forever.

lent post

So a couple weeks ago I decided that I was going to try to write on this every day for lent.  Clearly that went really well.  Anyways boredom and a funny story have compelled me to write tonight.  So today after my one class i had the privilege of witnessing someone who had fallen asleep during class be left behind in the room.  Some people tried to make a lot of noise as they were leaving to maybe wake him up but no one actually woke him up.  Being the kind compassionate people we are, everyone walked out and left him there.  In an even more considerate move a couple of us kept peering in through the window hoping to see him wake up to being all alone in a dark class room and to watch him try to figure out where he was.  Unfortunately I had to go to my next class but someone eventually woke him up.  Seeing him sitting by himself in that room sleeping while sitting up was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.  It made my day.  Does that make me cruel?  Anyways, I've been staring longingly at the black macbook on the apple store website for the past few weeks.  I think it might finally be within my grasp.  mmmmmmmm  Listen to Lovedrug's song Doomsday and The Echo on their myspace, so good.

New resolution: post at least one entry during lent.

Outcome: success

uh oh

Today a friend showed me the most dangerous website I've ever encountered.  It's called steepandcheap.com and the basic idea is that they offer ridiculous good deals on sweet gear, like climbing shoes, snowboard bindings, ski poles, jackets, etc.  The catch is that they only offer one deal at a time and they only have a new item when the current one sells out.  Now when I say good deals I mean really really really good deals, the first time I opened the website I found the perfect climbing shoes for 35 dollars and they're regularly like 130 or more.  Understandably stuff moves pretty fast here.  My friend said he saw things sell out in 20 minutes.  Therefore you have to check the website repeatedly  to see what's new.  Please pray that I will not spend all my money and time at this website.  Thank You.
